Abstract:
Producing desirable architectural science depends on understanding architecture at real. Therefore, it is particularly important to pay attention to two issues:
1- Separating the architecture at real from the architectural science;
2- Recognizing and defining the architectural science. Nowadays the confusion between architecture at real and architectural science, in many theorizing, has led to a misunderstanding of architectural science. So, relying on the logics, using an analytical-descriptive method, separating reality-based from science-based definitions the present study attempts to identify and criticize various definitions of existing architecture (modern architecture) and, in this regard, to pave the way for theorizing in the field of architectural science. And through this, it has reached the conclusion that from the perspective of modern theorists, many definitions of modern architecture (as a science and as at real) are not comprehensive and obstructive, and so for changing the existing architectural science to a desirable state relying on all or one of these definitions would not be appropriate. Therefore, in understanding modern architecture, the researcher must pay attention to the general philosophical foundations of each school and analyze the definition of architectural science based on those foundations in order to be able to describe and evaluate correctly its change and achieve the desired state.
